September 2 , 2005 WIC Updates

TO: Local WIC Provider Administrators, WIC Coordinators and WIC Nutrition Coordinators
SUBJECT:  WIC Disaster Accommodations

If people come from Alabama, Louisiana or Mississippi WIC programs and want/need WIC benefits here in Missouri, they will need to receive Missouri checks.  In general we will treat them as out-of-state transfers if they were on WIC in those locations, and new certifications if they were not on WIC.  More details on processing these applicants will be e-mailed to the LWPs today or early next week.   In the mean time call the help desk if you have hurricane related tr ansfers.

Missouri vendors will not be accepting other state WIC vouchers or checks from hurricane refugees at this point.   USDA has not "designated" Missouri to accept those vouchers/checks and Missouri vendors will not be r eimbursed for those vouchers/checks.
