  1. Educational Opportunity:  The American Dietetic Association's Center for Professional Development and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Bureau of WIC and Nutrition Services are sponsoring an educational opportunity, Applying the Nutrition Care Process: A Hands-on Approach: Part 1 - Clinical and Community Connections.  This will be a Listen and Learn Seminar on January 31st in Jefferson City.

    Please see the attached registration form for details or contact Michele Bailey at Michele.Bailey@dhss.mo.gov with questions.

  2. New WIC Education Handout:  "Tobacco, Alcohol and other Drugs (#508)" - English Version - The WIC State Office is pleased to introduce a new education handout titled "Tobacco, Alcohol, and other Drugs (#508)".  This handout is designed for the initial contact (known as the "AR" contact).  WIC certifiers can use this handout when providing the initial contact.  This handout will be available in the DHSS Warehouse the end of January, 2008.  We will notify you of the availability through the WIC Weekly UPDATE.  If you have any suggestions an/or questions, please contact Takako Tagami at 1-800-392-8209 or e-mail Takako.Tagami@dhss.mo.gov.

  3. Disaster/Emergency Preparedness Plan:  ER# 3.00500 has been approved by USDA.  Please review this policy when handling emergency situations as they arise in your agency.  If questions, please contact your district nutritionist or health program representative.  Thank you to everyone who helped in the development of this policy.

  4. No WIC Updates Next Week: Due to the State Office closings December 24th and 25th, there will be no WIC Updates next week.
