Child and Adult Care Food Program

Classes are intended for child care and adult day care providers who have contracts with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services or have submitted a program application to participate in the CACFP.
Topics:
Child Care Center Orientation– For child care centers only. Overview of how to operate the food program and manage CACFP paperwork in your child care center. Attendance required for new child care centers before application is approved.
Infant Feeding – Covers the requirements of the CACFP policy on claiming infant meals, supporting breastfeeding, choosing infant formula, and other infant feeding topics.
Menu Planning – Learn about adding variety to your child or adult care menus and make sure you are providing good quality, nutritious meals and snacks. Special emphasis on foods related to different cultures.
Socializing Healthy Habits in Young Children – Learn how to set a healthy nutrition environment and recognize the adult behaviors and attitudes that help children adopt healthy eating habits.
Understand why physical activity is important for young children and plan age-appropriate activity and movement policies for your child care program. This class focuses on the national concern with increases in childhood overweight.
