Formula
WIC Families
The American Academy of Pediatrics has stated that breastfeeding is uniquely superior for feeding infants and should be continued for the first year or as long as the mother and infant desire. When breastfeeding is contraindicated or a mother chooses not to breastfeed, iron-fortified infant formula is the appropriate substitute (1).
The formulas pictured below are available through the Missouri WIC program.
Other formulas are available for participants with medical problems. These special formulas require a signed and dated written request from the licensed health care professional with prescriptive authority (physician or advanced practical nurse). The request form is available through your local WIC agency.
