Blindness Education, Screening, and Treatment Program
Established in January 2001, the Blindness Education, Screening, and Treatment (BEST) Program’s primary directive is to provide blindness prevention education, screening, and treatment for persons who do not have adequate coverage for such services under a health care benefit plan. All services are dependent upon availability of funding. The public education component provides information about eye conditions that may cause blindness and available treatment options. The content within this site is provided to help answer questions you may have about a particular eye condition and to refer you to reliable sources of information.
The BEST program initiatives are funded solely by voluntary contributions. Please help efforts to provide education, screening, and treatment programs to prevent blindness by donating to the fund with a direct contribution to the Department of Health and Senior Services. Donate $1 when you renew or apply for a drivers license, permit, or state identification card; or donate $1 when registering your motor vehicle. To make a direct voluntary contribution in any amount, mail a check or money order to the Department of Health and Senior Services; P.O. Box 570; Jefferson City, Missouri 65102-0570. Be sure to indicate that the donation is for the BEST Fund (0892). If you have questions, please call 573.522.2864.
