Program Funding
Organ/Tissue Donation and Registry
Many people may not know that Missouri's Organ Donor Program does
not receive any state money. The Organ Donor Registry and all program
functions are maintained only by voluntary contributions. These
donations are used to maintain the computerized Organ Donor Registry
and to provide statewide education on organ and tissue donation.
Because of increased program awareness, program staff have seen
an increase in the number of Missourians who want to support the
Organ Donor Fund. Since 1996, Missourians have been given the opportunity
to support the program through $1 contributions at driver's license
offices around the state. Now, the Organ Donor Program can accept
donations directly into the fund. In addition, contributions may
be given in memory or celebration of someone's life.
