Monkeypox specimens may be submitted ONLY after consultation with Department of Health and Senior Services Disease Investigation Unit at 573-751-6113 or 800-392-0272 after hours.

If smallpox is suspected, call the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services at (800) 392-0272.

The following instructions are for patients that have a low or moderate risk for smallpox.

The following specimen collection kits, instructions and testing are available from the State Public Health laboratory. Kits will only be available after consultation with the Missouri State Public Health Laboratory.
