An assessment was designed to determine basic infrastructure and capacity of Missouri’s Local Public Health Agencies.  To gather information, a survey questionnaire was completed by each of Missouri’s 114 local public health agencies in June 2001.  This information is presented as a collection of all responses and, for comparison, is sorted by various sizes of population served.

The following report of survey results reflects a self-assessment of performance of core public health functions by the local public health system.  It provides a profile of workforce and organizational capacity.  The report also summarizes competencies needed by those working in public health and identifies areas where local public health agency administrators believe enhancement is needed.  The findings in this report are intended to establish a baseline by which to measure increases in capacity and as a basis for planning.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services, Center for Local Public Health Services prepared this report.  For further information call 573-751-6170.
