How to Use Intervention MICA?
Select a section:
Intervention MICA uses an evidence-based public health process, including seven basic steps: |
|
- Create a partnership with other individuals, groups and organizations within your community.
- Assess which health topics to focus on and prioritize areas in which to begin
- Learn about your readiness to prepare and plan your intervention
- Enhance organizational or community capacity, budget, funding sources, social determinants of health, or cultural competence
- Begin your intervention with information on intervention settings, strategies, tools, action steps and resources for a variety of health conditions and risk factors
- Evaluate to help you measure the success of your intervention.
- Gain momentum in sustaining your partnership and intervention over time.
This system recognizes that each user may have different needs. A user with relatively little intervention planning experience may need to start with Step One: Partnerships and work through the entire process. Other users may need assistance with specific steps in the evidence-based public health intervention planning process. Intervention MICA allows users to select which steps and information are most appropriate to their intervention planning needs. Step Five: Intervention contains the information, tools and resources related to interventions for various topics (e.g., physical activity, asthma, tobacco, diabetes), so advanced users may want to go directly to this step to begin their intervention. Once you have reached Step Seven: Momentum, you may return to Step One: Partnerships to continue the process of maintaining your partnerships and intervention efforts over time.
