Outcome evaluation allows you to determine if you have met your intervention goals. (To refresh your memory on developing goals and objectives, see Step 3: Readiness and Preparation). Outcome evaluations often measure main intervention objectives and health outcomes. They frequently involve health behavior changes, such as smoking cessation or increased physical activity levels and long term outcomes, such as decrease in obesity rates or increase in quality of life. You can determine which components were most effective or successful as well as discovering whether or not your intervention produced any unanticipated outcomes (e.g., increased feelings of social support or injury). |
