Why Evaluate

Select a section:

In order to get the most out of your experiences, it is important to document where you started, what you have done and the intended and unintended consequences of your actions in ways that can inform your work and can be shared with others wanting to do similar work. The nature and complexity of your intervention strategies will help you determine the type of evaluation you will need to conduct.

There are several ways to document the processes and activities that are part of your intervention planning, implementation and evaluation (e.g., meeting minutes, reports to the partnership, a newsletter to community members or presentations at local events, attendance at events). We suggest that you begin by evaluating your partnership. This is important in order to document your partners’ satisfaction with what has been accomplished to gauge their continued interest in participating in the delivery or evaluation of the intervention.
