Missouri Health Information Technology Task Force
Governor Matt Blunt created the Missouri Healthcare Information
Technology Task Force by Executive Order on January 17, 2006.
The Governor created the task force to ensure that healthcare
information can be readily available to health care providers,
consumers and public health agencies in order to make the best
healthcare decisions and to improve patient safety by reducing
medical errors. He appointed Julie Eckstein, director of the Department
of Health and Senior Services, as chair of the task force.
The 14 members of the task force will review the status of healthcare
information technology adopted by the state, address issues related
to the delivery of healthcare information, identify private resources
and public/private partnerships to fund efforts to adopt interoperable
health information technology, explore the use of telemedicine
and make recommendations for implementation.
The task force will make initial recommendations to the Governor
by July 1, 2006, with a final report to follow by September 1,
2006.
