Colorectal Cancer
The Missouri Screen For Life (MSFL) program is a three-year demonstration program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and managed by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services.
The MSFL program provides free colorectal screening tests to men and women who meet age, income, and residency guidelines. During the three-year demonstration program, residents of St. Louis City and County, and Franklin, Jefferson and St. Charles Counties will be eligible to participate. Men and women who are 50-64 years of age who meet residency and income guidelines are eligible. Persons 40-49 years of age who have a personal or strong family history of polyps or colorectal cancer and meet all other eligibility guidelines may qualify to receive a free colorectal screening test.
Eligible clients of the MSFL program must complete a colorectal cancer history form to determine their risks for colorectal cancer. Those clients found to be at average risk will receive a Fecal Occult Blood Test (FOBT) to complete. Clients found to be at high risk for colorectal cancer would receive a colonoscopy.
If colorectal cancer is diagnosed as a result of a colonoscopy funded by MSFL, the Siteman Cancer Center in St. Louis will provide free treatment to the client.
Call the MSFL program at (314) 879-6392 to ask about eligibility guidelines or to make an appointment. Colon cancer is more easily treated when found early.
