Automated External Defibrillators
The Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) that the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) has to distribute are being provided by a grant from the federal Office of Rural Health Policy. (For more details on the program, click on the Rural Access to Emergency Devices heading under Other Links.)
Under the conditions of the federal grant, DHSS must distribute the AEDs to first responders in rural areas. Priority must be given to those eligible agencies that don't have AEDs and those areas with high pre-hospital death rates for Cardiac Arrest.

The Office of Rural Health (DHSS) and Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (BEMS) surveyed first responders in the state to determine the number of AEDs and amount of training needed in each eligible area of the state. If you did not receive a survey but would like to fill one out please download the following survey file
