Membership Expectations/Responsibilities

Missouri Arthritis Advisory Board

Each member of the Missouri Arthritis Advisory Board is expected to do the following:

  • Attend all board and committee meetings and functions, such as special events.
  • Be informed about the organization’s mission, services, policies, and programs.
  • Comply with conflict of interest and confidentiality policies.
  • Assist in the writing and implementation of a program plan(s).
  • Assist the board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities, such as reviewing annual financial statements, preparing annual reports for the Department, etc.
  • Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings.
  • Actively serve on at least one standing committee, offer to take on special assignments, and serve in leadership positions.
  • Be timely and follow through on assignments.
  • Inform others about the organization and program. Be an arthritis advocate on the local, regional, and state level.
  • Participate in at least one RAC sponsored event or program each year.
  • Mentor new board members.
  • Make your voice heard; provide your opinion and recommendations.
  • Ask questions to clarify any issue.
  • Stay current on arthritis, lupus, and osteoporosis developments in the areas of program activities, research, and funding.
  • Utilize available technology to complete assignments and communicate with other board members and the state program staff and partners.
  • Suggest possible nominees to the board who you believe will make significant contributions to the work of the board and the organization.
  • Suggest agenda items periodically for board and committee meetings to ensure that significant matters are addressed.
  • Complete evaluation forms that are designed to evaluate board activities and / or move the program toward goals.
