Board Expectations/Responsibilities
Missouri Arthritis Advisory Board
The Missouri Arthritis Advisory Board is expected to do the following:
- Administer (Guide, Oversee, Advise) state,
federal and private grants and programs dealing with arthritis
and related diseases as part of this program. (192.700) Meet semi-annually
and at other times as called by the Board Chair. (192.707.2) Serve
in an advisory capacity to the Peer Review Committee. (192.707.3)
Report annually to the Department of Health and Senior Services
and to the State Board of Health regarding the implementation
of the statewide arthritis plan, making recommendations of necessary
changes in content and direction. (192.707.3) Develop recommendations
of guidelines for programs supported under the state arthritis
program; make recommendations on program relevance of grant applications
funded under the state arthritis program; make final recommendations
to the Director of the Department regarding programs and grants
of the state arthritis program. (192.707.4) Assist in the implementation
of the osteoporosis program (192.644) and the lupus program (192.729).
- Serve as advocates for Missourians with arthritis,
lupus and / or osteoporosis and their families.
- Orient new members in conjunction with the
MAOP staff.
- Enhance program’s and organization’s
public standing.
- Set Direction
- Develop and maintain focus on vision and mission.
- Determine and strengthen strategies to improve programs and
services.
- Review, modify, and approve plans presented to the board.
- Ensure Resources
- Identify human and financial resources needed for implementation
of mission.
- Establish policies of how these resources will be acquired,
including policies for board member participation.
- Ensure that the necessary resources are made available and
are managed effectively.
- Provide Oversight
- Establish financial policies and ensure accountability.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws and ethical standards.
- Monitor progress and evaluate outcomes.
