| Introductions of Board Members
|
Dr. Jantsch noted that not everyone around the table may know one another, so she thought it would be appropriate for the group to go around the table and introduce themselves and speak on their area of expertise.
- Deborah Jantsch, a gynecologist from Kansas City, has served on the board through several administrations and is the current chairperson for the Board of Health.
- Jim Berry, Director of Taney County Health Department, has a background in Hospital Administration.
- Joe Forand, an anesthesiologist from St. Louis, worked the past few years to spear head the tort reform issue in Missouri.
- Donna Mannello, a chiropractic physician from St. Louis and is also a professor at Logan College of Chiropractic.
- Ollie Fisher, a Dentist from St. Louis, has served on the Board of Health through several administrations as well. Dr. Fisher also currently serves as a Naval Reserves Officer.
- Annette Slack served for 25 years as a registered nurse and served 20 years in the army. Mrs. Slack currently works as a Medical Malpractice Defense attorney in St. Louis.
- Tommy Macdonnell has worked on health endeavors dating back to the 1940’s. Dr. Macdonnell worked for many years as a physician, serving in the state legislature and then as a board member at the department.

- Susan Jenkins is the Deputy Director of the division of community and public health.
- Anne Lock is the Interim Director in the Center for Local Public Health Agencies
- Desiree Mowry is the support staff to the board members.

| Department Update, Susan Jenkins
|
Julie was unable to be here. The department is currently in negotiations with Governor’s office.
Every year the budget office asks the department to go through core reduction exercises and the department is going through that process at this time.
The General Assembly will convene on January 4, 2006. As of December 1, 2005 legislators could pre-file legislation.
Missouri Government Review Commission has finished their review of State Government and has made their recommendations to the Governor’s Office.

Strategic Planning Process is about ready to come to a close and the plan will be delivered to Governor Blunt at the end of this month. |
The Board members will speak to Julie Eckstein about how they can help assist/advise her with the legislative process.
The Board members will also discuss the Missouri Government Review Commission Report at the next meeting. |

MICH, Anne Lock
|
The Missouri Institute for Community Health (MICH) is a broad-based entity that facilitates dialogue among health care providers, the private sector, community colleges, universities, health and human service associations, and state and local government.
The MICH committees are very active and there has been major success has been the accreditation committee. There have been some challenges in getting everyone to function in an orderly manner. The accreditation process is voluntary. |
